Why nutrition is more important than training!
Are you tired of all the 'how to lose weight' programs and plans? You're not alone. Often someone can become so disillusioned with reaching their weight-loss goals when they’ve tried diet after diet with little or no long lasting results.
Firstly we should remind ourselves that we are all unique and whilst two people may have similar fitness goals the way they go about reaching them may differ for a variety of reasons ranging from physiological reasons, to metabolism and the type of training method. The more self-aware you are of your body the better and more informed your decisions.
Everyone regardless of their training goal should be aware of their nutrition. Nutrition is crucial for wellbeing - physical, emotional and mental. In this post we are looking at nutrition for physical wellbeing specifically weight-loss. Other areas include sleeping patterns, energy production and muscle building.
Here are 3 ways you can manage your nutrition and stick to your fitness, and weight goals:
1. You don't have to eat LESS, just make sure you eat RIGHT
What's eating 'right'? Well, that is understanding and getting familiar with your caloric intake per day and sticking to it! Your caloric intake is based on a number of factors; physical activity per week, BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate: energy expended while at rest. Also considering age, weight gender, body composition).
2. Enjoy your food!
You don’t need to be confined to a rigid way of eating, just become aware of what you’re eating and the consequences. A bit like managing your monthly budget - outgoings should not be more than incomings. Similarly with your nutrition what you consume should not exceed your nutrition quotient. The calories you consume + the calories you burn through exercise should be equal or less to your daily calorie limit. Increase the level of physical activity on a daily basis i.e. move more!
3. Be patient and consistent!
You will get results! Give yourself time and enjoy the journey, don’t make it all about the destination.
